Ecological Restoration
ACRAA’s Ecological Restoration Project focuses on restoring native vegetation in the riparian forests of Alter do Chão, particularly on the Island of Love, to revitalize ecosystems and enhance their resilience against climate change and human impacts. Our efforts also extend to the Tapajós River’s banks, where restoration is critical for stabilizing shorelines, filtering sediments, and safeguarding water quality—directly benefiting biodiversity and local communities.
Additionally, ACRAA rehabilitates lakes, streams (igarapés), and flooded forests (igapós), vital aquatic ecosystems for the Amazon’s hydrological balance. Through native species replanting, invasive species management, and partnerships with communities and institutions, we bridge traditional knowledge and scientific expertise to ensure effective, sustainable outcomes. Environmental Education
We see Environmental Education as one of the fundamental pillars for building a sustainable social and economic system, in harmony with the environment.
ACRAA created the “ACRAA nas Escolas” program, with the aim of promoting and stimulating environmental awareness in students of kindergarten and basic education, with priority given to indigenous schools in the Baixo Tapajós region.

Sustainability
ACRAA views sustainability as a holistic approach that harmonizes ecological restoration, agroforestry, and environmental education to create lasting environmental and social impact. Since 2021, our fruit tree seedling donations have empowered local communities by boosting food security, generating income, and restoring degraded lands.

Since 2023, we deepened this commitment through partnerships with indigenous groups in the Santarém Plateau, blending traditional wisdom with modern techniques to advance Amazonian sustainable development. Click here to learn more.
